A crosshair that moves like your rifle.
TarkovCrosshair is a free 126 KB overlay for Escape from Tarkov. Its sway was matched frame by frame to an in-game weapon laser, so it leans when you strafe, dips when you walk forward and climbs when you fire.
Version 1.1 for Windows 10 and 11. Free and open source. No installer.
Hold A, D, W or S to move.
Click and hold to fire.
Matched to a real weapon laser
Gameplay was recorded with a laser on the rifle, then the laser dot and the crosshair were tracked in every frame. The sway was fitted until the two moved together: the weapon reacts about 235 ms after your keys, leans 39 px against a strafe, dips 22 px walking forward and lifts 12 px walking back.
Everything you'd tune in a range
One settings window, a live preview, and presets for each gun. Tarkov Default holds the laser-calibrated values and can't be edited, so you can always go back to it.
Eight shapes, any colour
Cross, T, X, dot, circle, reticle, chevron or box. Set size, gap, thickness, opacity and outline in true screen pixels.
Hides when you aim
Right-click hides it. Choose hold, toggle, or Tarkov's own tap to toggle, hold to hold.
TarkovSway
Leans against your strafe, dips when you walk forward and lifts when you walk back, after the same delay as the game.
Visual recoil
Climbs as you fire in semi or full auto, levels off, then settles. It only moves the crosshair; your mouse is never touched.
Dynamic spread
The gap opens while you move and shoot, and closes when you settle.
A preset for every gun
Three slots start as copies of Tarkov Default and save as you tune them.
Light enough to forget
One 126 KB file at about 0% CPU. It draws only when something moves and leaves the screen entirely while hidden.
One key to hide it
Insert shows or hides the crosshair anywhere. Rebind it to any key, or use the tray icon.
Running in a minute
There's nothing to install. Settings save to %APPDATA%\TarkovCrosshair.
Download and run it
Windows may show a SmartScreen warning because the app isn't code-signed. Choose More info, then Run anyway.
Switch Tarkov to Borderless
In Settings, set Screen mode to Borderless. No overlay can draw over exclusive fullscreen.
Pick a crosshair and play
Closing the window keeps it running in the tray. Press Insert to hide it.
What it does on your PC
The whole app is open source, so you can read exactly what it does or build it yourself.
It reads
- Which movement keys and mouse buttons you're holding
- Your main monitor's size and refresh rate
- Its own settings file
It never
- Opens, reads or writes the game or its files
- Uses hooks, drivers or simulated input
- Moves your mouse
- Hides itself from screenshots or recordings
- Connects to the internet
No third-party tool can be guaranteed safe from bans. Battlestate's terms forbid software that gives an unfair advantage, and they decide what counts. TarkovCrosshair is built to be as passive as possible, but use it at your own risk.

Questions
Does it work in fullscreen?
No. Exclusive fullscreen draws directly to the display and nothing can appear on top of it. Set Tarkov's Screen mode to Borderless.
Why does Windows warn me before it runs?
The exe isn't code-signed, so SmartScreen doesn't recognise it yet. Choose More info, then Run anyway. You can compare the file's SHA-256 above with your download, or build it from source.
Will it get me banned?
Nobody can promise that. It only reads key states and draws in its own window, and stays visible to anything that captures your screen. External crosshair overlays are widely used, but Battlestate has never approved them. Decide for yourself.
Does it know where my gun is actually pointing?
No. It doesn't read the game. It predicts the sway from your keys, using values measured on one rifle. Heavier or lighter weapons may want different values, so tune a slot for each gun.
Does it hide while I'm in my inventory?
It can. Turn on Hide in inventory in Options, and Tab hides the crosshair until Tab or Esc closes the inventory.
How do I remove it?
Quit from the tray icon, delete TarkovCrosshair.exe, and delete the TarkovCrosshair folder in %APPDATA%.
